History of Rock

And the Course finally ended.

Huge thanks to the University of Rochester, Coursera and obviously my teacher John Covach.

Starting in May 2013 with the theme of "The World before Rock And Roll (1900-1955)” until August with "Widening Gaps (the 1990's)” has been very satisfactory.

I started with the question: Should I take the course? But I know too much about Rock. Why?

Thinking twice: "No, I better take it".

Oh, Surprise! I learned many issues, anecdotes, experiences and data within this fascinating theme music that is universal: Rock.

Meet and learn from the beginnings of Rock, Elvis, Beatles, British Invasion, American Response, Motown, Soul, Psychedelia, Pop, Reggae, Disco, Punk, New Wave, MTV, Heavy Metal, Rap, Alternative, Country, Hip Hop, Industrial and over so much of styles and sounds.

I emerged triumphant from this extraordinary course, NOT by the results of the tests, but the Learning and optimal method my teacher John Covach used online.

The numbers do not matter, responses, skills and successes. What matters is what's new in my mind, the groups I met who had gone unnoticed in my life, songs, styles and the different scenarios in which the music and bands unfold.

I have enjoyed and I hope to continue doing so, the Facebook group, "History of Rock (University of Rochester - Coursera course) created by Belinda Beasley and each and every one of the members.

Each video class, every quiz, every moment of the course and in addition, each video with accompanying each story, is what gives life to this course.

Taking it is a great opportunity for any music lover at heart and soul.

It was a symbolic investment of time, which I personally was about 10 hours, as each class boasts several videos and readings.

Obviously, what I most enjoyed of the course and is subject domain, was the issue of HEAVY METAL, since that is exactly the lifestyle I lead. There is no bigger musical genre, emotive and powerful than METAL.

Long Live HEAVY METAL.

And it is worth mentioning that my wife has been very supportive, as the time spent on the course became NOT made with her (our) activities. So thank her for the support and understanding.

Rock... is all you need to live.
